Season 18

Season of the Triune

Season 18 introduced the Season of the Triune, a call-back to an ancient cult forged over three millennia ago by the Prime Evils of the Burning Hells. Masquerading as three benevolent deities dedicated to Determination, Creation, and Love, the Prime Evils sought to infiltrate the hearts of men in a bid to tilt the odds in their favor in the ongoing Eternal Conflict. Ultimately defeated by Uldyssian during the Sin War, the remnants of the Cult of the Triune still operate today as the more well-known Coven, whom continue the work of Adria and Magdha even after their deaths.

For the duration of Season 18, all players will benefit from the Power of the Triune buff, which will periodically summon circles around the battlefield that provide one of three random buffs:

  • Triune of Love (Power): Players in the circle receive a 100% damage bonus while active
  • Triune of Determination (Resource Reduction): Players in the circle receive a 50% discount on resources spent while active
  • Triune of Creation (Cooldown Reduction): While standing in an active circle, any skills currently on cooldown come off of cooldown more quickly

*~*~*~*

You know, I have to admit I'm not really liking this season a whole heck of a lot. I'm not seeing any rhyme or reason to where the circles appear and it's pretty hard to get in the right spot before they disappear.

Maybe it's just me, though--I mean, I'm not exactly the most skilled when it comes to video games--I'd really love to see a Season of Rainbows: something to the effect of increased rainbow goblins or multiple instances of Whimsydale available per game file. Would make for a great Pride Month season for June next year...

Heck, they added those new zones in Rise of the Necromancer, but there's no story behind it, just, "Here, have some new places,". I wouldn't mind having an Act 6 to go through that linked the necromancer to the rest of the lore/story.

What do you guys think? What seasons or other Diablo 3 related things would you like to see added to the game?

Sylverian Dreamer

What do you think, guys? Sign up for 6 months' WoW time to get this thing, pay $25 to get it, or not get it at all?

Just what is Blizzard trying to do? From what I understand, people really don't like the new patch (I haven't looked into it myself) and are saying this is a desperate move on Blizzard's part. This doesn't surprise me, really, after everything they've been doing with firing en masse, partnering up with Activision, and just not listening to their player base in general. Still, there's no way I would pay for 6 months' game time when I could just do $25 and no commitment, you know? I'm not sure if I could be persuaded to play again after all this.

And I don't mean this like, "Uhuhuhu, you're losing me as a customer, whatchu gonna do now?" it's just a statement is all. I just don't like the direction WoW has gone and I'm not sure yet what Diablo 4 may hold, but I'll definitely be researching that soon to put in my two cents.

Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!

I just want to take this minute to say that I really hate the lightning dodge mini-game in Final Fantasy X. I also can't stand the chocobo race, the butterfly game, or the Qactuar Village, but dodging 200 consecutive bolts of lightning? NO THANK YOU.

Let's Blitz!

You know what? Maybe this has been said before, or maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I really, really want a Blitzball game in the style of Madden or Fifa.

Can you imagine? Cutting-edge graphics that show a stunning, swirling sphere of water. The stadium lights shining through and illuminating the goals, the spectators - the possibility for broken bones when tackling and taking the ball away? Not to mention having to add AI for swapping players if injured (and, of course, fixing the AI for the existing mechanics...)

I would absolutely buy just a stand-alone Blitzball game from Square Enix.

What do you guys think?

Season 16!

I have to admit, I'm not looking forward to this Season. I mean, I'll probably still play it, though, because the wings and the portrait frame, but a whole season based on the Ring of Royal Grandeur? I'm not sure.

Most likely I'll only play until I get the rewards I want and then stop, you know, like almost every season. I never bother with conquests (I got really close one season) and it doesn't really bother me.

Anyway, Season 16 starts on January 18th at 5pm PST.

Let's-a Go!

So I've been playing Let's Go Eevee and I have to say that it's, uh.... it's certainly different than what I was expecting.

I'm not going to sit here and prattle on about, "Back in my day, Pokémon was...." no. Times change, things change, I can accept that.

The name, I think, should have clued me in a little? But I turned on the game, immediately got hit by that first (of many) waves of nostalgia, and then I go through the tutorial on how to catch Pokémon and it's... that's the part that threw me, really. Using your controller to throw PokéBalls? Great, yes.

But not battling it first?

In some ways I appreciate it, because there's no longer that extra time spent whittling it down to low health, accidentally fainting it, having to run around and find another one... I know it got boring, but that in itself was fun for me, somehow. At least the catching of the Pokémon grants experience, and I love that I can just look in the grass to see what's available. I don't even mind that the wild Pokémon come up on the road sometimes, I think it's great.

I've written several reasons why I don't like Pokémon Go, but I still play it, because it's fun and it's silly. I'm just not sure that a fusion between Pokémon Go and a console Pokémon game was the way to go?

Speaking of which, the Go Park. Listen here Nintendo, I worked hard to catch all those Pokémon out in the wilds of real life; why do I have to catch them again in the Go Park? Do you know how many PokéBalls I've gone through to catch Pokémon that are already mine? Please fix that. Please.

Boy did Mount Moon bring back some memories though. . . :)

writers

from [this] post on Tumblr:

For everyone who has inevitably asked:
“Why don’t writers have Patreons?” / “Why don’t authors do commissions for their work”
THEY DO.
No one supports them.
When the BNF Authors barely get a handful of Patreons for the smallest pledge available, when the BNF can’t sell their work, there is absolutely no hope of the rest of us doing so.
Go to your favorite author’s Tumblr’s, go to their profile pages, LOOK for those pledge buttons, buy them a coffee, leave a donation, or commission a piece of work. Normalise it. If your favorite doesn’t have a donate button, suggest it to them and then actually follow through and pledge.
You guys* are the ones that need to get the ball rolling.
(*everyone who said they would support an author’s Patreon or donate)

Mmm yes. Even when you do have a coffee/tips button/thingy people are shy to use it. Which then makes me feel insignificant and a little upset - like my writing literally isn’t worth a cup of coffee? Eh, it is what it is - just you know, why am I creating fan content if no one wants/appreciates it?
   - @elenilote

If you support artists financially and don’t support writers, it’s clear where you think the skill lies.
Don’t @ me with the same boring arguments about why art is easier to consume as a visual medium. Supporting a content creator has nothing to do with ease of access to their work. It’s about who you feel deserves your hard earned money and precious time for the art they produce.
“Anyone can write,” they say. “It’s just words.” Undervalued, underpaid, criticised, harassed - people demand our work for free, and turn on us if we ask for compensation. Writers cop so much flak for daring to ask for compensation for our work. It’s glaringly obvious how many people think about our skillset.
They aren’t “just words”. And if they mean anything to you, then support us, too!

Primal Ancients: Thoughts?

What are your thoughts on Primal Ancients? Stupid? Unoriginal? Nifty?

Personally, I would love to see more zones. Maybe a place like Kingsport or the Templar stronghold, something. More places, more story, a full expansion's worth of content. I'd shell out some nice monies for that.

I don't really care about weapon upgrades & stuff like that -- they're nice, but they're not why I play -- so I'm really more of a story kind of girl & I wish they'd do more.

Let's Rift!

Let's get ready to gear up, grinders(?)! Grind enthusiasts? Whatever! It may only be 7AM where I am, but that doesn't mean I can't try to gear up a monk before breakfast. ^^

Season 9 starts in just two days, at 5pm PST! I am super excited to level my way up through the season, because it's such a wonderful chance to discover or rediscover skills & combinations.

PLUS! HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?!

"An ancient evil stirs in the ruins of Old Tristram, and a mysterious portal has appeared that leads to the halls of an all-too familiar cathedral. Deep beneath the catacombs, the Dark Lord awaits any intrepid adventurer who dares to challenge him." ~ Diablo 3 blog

Of course, this is what I'm really looking forward to: (just kidding)

Potions at Miriam's!

What about you guys? What are you most looking forward to in patch 2.4.3? The content? The dyes? The better quality of life or Greater Rift revisions?

Go ahead & leave a comment with what you like best!

Hey!

Hey guys! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Please forgive me for not posting these past few days, we have guests over & it's hard to chronicle what's going on at the moment.

Regarding Alpha Sapphire, I managed to catch the jerk Virizion. Then I got tired of legendaries for the moment & picked up my copy of Pokémon Moon & you know, I'm really sorry to say this, but... I'm quite disappointed with it.

Why? The calling of allies for one. I wouldn't mind if only the Totem Pokémon did it but all of them? Really? No. That gets annoying really fast.

2. I can control up to level 60 Pokémon? Already? I mean I know I've done a lot of trials but... wow. Besides, my Pokémon only just now it 50.

3. SO MANY FREE THINGS OMG - seriously, I haven't had to buy hardly anything. Mostly repels, honestly. Right now I'm just trying to finish the game so I can farm for the Pokémon I actually need since, you know, after the Meloetta event starting December 1st I'll have all 721 Pokémon. So really all I need are these new ones!

4. Why do I have to go back to catch the Totem Pokémon? Why can't I just capture it in the trial? Or, you know, have it stand there at the end of the trial, press A & then initiate a battle with it? (or, given the way this game is going, why don't you just give it to me? Tell me that it loves the way I battle & just hops into my party for criminey's sake...)

So yea, sorry, but I'm disappointed, Nintendo, Gamefreak. I really expected more from this game, as hyped up as it was.

Better luck next gen...? o.O

Pokémon NO

I don't know about you guys, but I've always been drawn to fire type Pokémon. Ever since I got my copy of Pokémon Red & then Blue, I always started with Charmander. It wasn't until I replayed the games that I tried Bulbasaur & Squirtle. When Gold & Silver came out, boom! I picked Cyndaquil. I never played the original Gen 3-5 games, but you can bet your butt I went for Fennekin in Gen 6's X & Y, & then Torchic when I finally got Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire.

Now I see the evolutions for all the Alola starters, & I'm seeing Litten, like:

Oh, so cute! It's adorable, yes! Yes you can be my starter!

Then there's Torracat:
     Omg yes! I like it!

.

.
.

And then.

Then.

We get... this?!

Monstrosity... er, I mean Incineroar

No. Just no. I swear this thing was supposed to be another Fire/Fighting type but they realized we were tired of that so they were just like, "Shit! Slap a different typing onto it! Make it different!"

This is not a starter I'm proud of or would be happy to have in my party. I'm slapping an Everstone on this thing as soon as I get Torracat & I'll keep it that way or else I'll have to go #TeamRowlet or even *gulp* #TeamPopplio.

Please, please let this be a joke. Don't do this to us, GameFreak, Nintendo. I need you to be awesome. This is not that.

Night Owls of Sanctuary Unite!

Hello again, night owls! Before I go any further, I have a confession to make: I've been pulled back into Diablo IV  by my husband. I kn...
