Session 4

A Dragonborn fighter, Tiefling cleric, and Gnome wizard are all in the kitchen.

Zero snacks to be found.

We make our way, carefully, to the Dining Room. The door is locked. K’myr knocks, but there’s no answer. Krepsis stabs the door, narrowly missing the Tiefling’s hand as she goes for another knock. Upset, Krepsis uses his acid breath while Pinenut keeps a lookout in the hall. Disgruntled from almost having her hand run through with a flametongue sword, K’myr walks to the second door.

It’s open.

Oh, sure, don’t mind the headless torso just chilling in the corner of the screen; it’s fine, we're friends now.

Session 3

You know what? I don’t even know how to describe last Thursday’s session (7-19). There were some new elements, and things got a little crazy, so I’m going to do my best to write it as I remember it but that is a little up in the air right now, haha.

First things first, we did not meet up in the game store this time. Instead my husband and I decided to host things at our house since we could have the freedom to be a little noisier, not have to worry about policing our language, you know, basics.

We notice is that our DM has brought a board with him, and it’s from the game CLUE. He’s also drawing on it with dry erase marker to make the 1-inch movement squares so we’re really curious as to what our adventure is going to bring this evening.

So 6:30 rolls around, our wizard has arrived, nachos are made, it’s a great time… except that our barbarian is missing. No big deal, though, he usually arrives around 7 so we’ll just talk and work out some downtime activities until then.

Now it’s 7:30 and none of us have heard from him, so we all hope he’s okay and proceed to start playing without him.

Our party has received word (at Sanctum, from Amilcar as usual…) that there was a party in Empire City (where K’myr is from!) and all the guests as well as a well-known noble’s son went missing. Anyone who went into the house did not leave, so the noble, in a fit of desperation and panic, went into the house and has not been heard from since.

Now we’re in the house, standing in the hall, just investigating as adventurers do. K’myr lifts the carpet and finds that the dust has been swept underneath it, so someone is still cleaning despite the fact that everyone who was in this place had disappeared.

We move into the Study. There are papers on the desk but nothing really of importance. Pinenut (our Wizard) discovers a secret tunnel and Krepsis investigates it, but comes back rather than explore it fully. K’myr finds a bracelet under a couch cushion and puts it in her bag. She’s not sure whether she’ll return it yet or not.
Curious, we press onward, into the Library. Some books have fallen off the shelves, and we can hear noise. Krepsis investigates it, and is attacked by an Intellect Devourer.

Oh crap.

There is also something of interest on the table, so Krepsis picks it up. He now has a gun with no ammunition.

There’s nothing really of interest in the Billiard Room, so we go to the Conservatory. There is a painting there of the noble and his son, as well as a statue. Krepsis picks up the statue and begins to hear a whisper in his mind, but drops it into the Bag of Holding before it has a chance to speak. (both my husband and I are freaking out, because I was the one who asked him to pick it up and put it in the bag o.O meanwhile Pinenut is just happy it wasn’t him.

In the Ballroom, there is a man playing the piano. He speaks to us, but his mouth isn’t moving. Krepsis attacks and we kill the odd creature, disgusted and hoping there’s something a little better in the Kitchen.

Sure, yeah, there’s a guy in the with a cleaver, so we knock him out too. He may or may not have been a living person, but we’re apparently murder hobos now, so we don’t really care. K’myr is really upset that everyone is just attacking things without talking first, because our task is specifically to save anyone we can.

We ended our game in the kitchen, so I’m sure K’myr is going to be more than happy to investigate the fridge and cabinets for anything of use.

Trying to think of how I can help the DM curb the murderous fighter and wizard, and also really interested in that sentient (?) statue…

UNLEASH THE HORDE!

Just ordered this and can't wait for it to arrive! I have a player who has the official WotC Monster Manual mostly memorized, so I decided to get this for some variety of baddies to throw at them, as they do tend to meta-game quite a bit...

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to foil this specific player, but I am trying to make it more fun/immersive for everyone else because otherwise this person just says things out of character and tends to be disruptive. I'm not DMing yet, but I am trying to get out in front of this before it become a problem for me.

Home game!

Moved our weekly D&D game from the game store to our house and I finally get to really spread out and have space to myself! ^^

Yeah, I'm that person. XD

Top row (left to right): Post-Its, soda, dice jail, pencil, dice box (when it's open I just roll my dice in the lid since it's lined).

Bottom row: eraser, notebook, iPad, binder of character sheet and spell cards.

Necessary? No. Fun? Yes.

Story time!

I roll dice too?

Side Quest: OPB!

What's this? A lighthearted adventure for after the seriousness of my campaign? What is the meaning of this?! ðŸ˜¶

Can't be doom and gloom all the time, so let's have some fun! I have a feeling this will quickly turn into, "Who can kill the annoying pigeon first? Thieves or players?" or, "Do we really want to save this guy?"

re: Festival of Kord

If I get nothing else out of this dang campaign I'm writing, let me be the first to say that the Festival of Kord I had planned for the husband and the roommate will happen in this campaign. I've had this thing planned for months and I will not be stopped this time! Muahahahaha!

Er... also, I made a new map. ðŸ˜…

The spot labeled, "magic items," is a hidden shop. This map is only for my reference so unless someone sneaks a peek, they won't know it's there... at least, not until they're meant to.

Contests of dexterity, strength, fortitude and more await in the Festival of Kord (level 5).

Also, I'll be making more invitations because, you know, I just love making physical things to really make it more immersive. Looking forward to making a few other things, too, because why  not?

Mostly, though, I'm just looking forward to the festival itself. Pitting player versus NPC, and possibly player versus player in an all-out brawlfest. Could definitely be a good way to blow some steam or have a great time.

If the players decide to participate in the brawl, their names will be placed into a bowl and pairs will be drawn to determine the fights and their order. I have several NPCs (listed here) available as opponents and I'm excited for a good throw-down, bang up fight. All they have to do is survive everything up to this and they'll be fine, I mean... what could go wrong? ^.~

New Campaign in the Works!

I'm at it again, folks, making plans for a campaign that may or may not happen, but now that I actually have a weekly D&D group, maybe the chances of running it have increased. I've already got 75% approval so... yeah, it looks like it may happen.

Once the campaign I'm playing in ends, I will essentially take over and the former DM will have a chance to sit back, relax, and just play. I'm piecing it together now and will be posting more of it as I get it sorted out, so check back here every once in a while to check up on it!

GR 65

First grift 65 ever!

so proud!

My husband completed a level 70 greater rift! He's the first one of the two of us to get that high and I couldn't be more happy for him that he finally unlocked {[Primal Ancient]} weapons. I just wish I could do the same is all, but I only just finished my first level 60 grift yesterday. I'll catch up sooner or later!

This marks the first time my husband has ever been ahead of me: he's ahead on paragon level, difficulty, damage, toughness... all of it, and I'm so glad he's enjoying the most powerful character he's ever made. The RNG gods have finally smiled upon him.

Backup

Just wanted to let you know that just in case anything happens to K'myr, I have a backup character all lined up. ^^ I hope to keep playing her for a while, but our DM has said that now that we've reached level 7, things are really going to start heating up.

According to him, we're about to get into some legitimately planned story and plot.

Oh boy...

Hence the rolling of a second character, just in case!

Level 8 Feat?

Does anyone know any good feats for a Trickery Domain Cleric? Was going to go with Magic Initiate at level 8 since I already have Healer. Going to grab Minor Illusion, Vicious Mockery, and Silent Image from the Bard spell list.

Session 2

Time to get ahead or… three?

Had our second D&D session on Thursday, and thankfully everyone was able to join again. ^^

We stayed in the mining outpost for about 15 days, just trying to fix up the inn and get the place in order. The DM, impressed by our ability to sidetrack so quickly and efficiently, allowed us to name it The Giantsbane Outpost. We also renamed the inn Three Blind Giants.

Returning to Sanctum was rather uneventful, and the paladin Amilcar was once again standing before us with his pure white scythe known as the Wing of Bahamut, its eye ever-watchful as he addressed us.

Somewhere in the town of Glenn, a chimera is wreaking havoc on the townspeople. We are to head there immediately to take care of it.

Eleven days’ travel bring us to the small town of Glenn, whereupon we meet the mayor and – after a few accusations from Pinenut and Torinn about whether or not said mayor is stealing from the town – Torinn remembers he’d heard a rumor that the creature had been spotted about ten miles out.

He leaves the tavern immediately, intent on finding the creature without so much as a plan or asking if we would like to follow along.

We follow anyway.

It doesn’t take us long to find the creature’s den, a series of tunnels leading to a large hoard of treasure, but the creature itself is nowhere to be seen.

A hawk flies overhead.

Torinn is busy looting, Krepsis is hiding in a tunnel, K’myr is hidden in another tunnel, and Pinenut is sneaking his way behind a rock.

K’myr’s duplicate appears and begins skipping through the open field.

The hawk disappears in a cloud of feathers as an enormous shadow blocks the sun.

Guiding Bolt at 3rd level?

Why yes, yes I will.

Spell Cards!

Picked up some spell cards from Barnes & Noble this weekend and I am super excited! I'm not usually one to get all the fancy things, but the cards help me visualize my spells and provide a quick reference without having to flip through my player's handbook.

Not to mention, but it also enables me to have fewer things on the table. I made a binder for my character sheet(s) and information so that I can take up less space on the game store tables.

K'myr Adala

Interested in finding out more about K'myr? Here's her sheet!

Krepsis Yendesh Zealous

Want to view Krepsis' character sheet for yourself? Now you can! Just click [here].

Session 1

Warning: Objects in mirror appear larger than. . .
nope, it’s giants.

We start off by meeting our 4th player, who had not been present the previous week. We are introduced to Torinn, the Red Dragonborn barbarian. Torinn is a rather gruff, rough-about-the-edges sort of person but at least K’myr seems happy to see him.

A bird flies in through the window, and Torinn makes a grab for it, trying to take the slip of paper from its mouth. He slips, and instead the bird pecks him on the pinky. Pinenut takes the letter, reads it, and passes it around for everyone else to read.

There is trouble in the west.

Off we go, we four adventurers called together by the paladin Amilcar. We have been told he is the last survivor of a group who defeated a powerful lich, but rumors stir that the lich has returned, and Amilcar – all of Mundus, really – needs our help should rumors prove true. Clearly we are but toddlers to an all-powerful lich as we are now, so Amilcar has assigned these tasks for us so that we may grow in both power and in bond as a group.

Thursday is Game Day!

I put out a note on a few websites looking for D&D groups in or around my area, and after a few days, I got a message that there was a group that had just started at a game store fairly closeby. So I get the DM’s info, send him a note, and my husband decides to tag along with me because, you know, safety and all that.

When we get to the group, meet the DM – Stephen – and the wizard, who’s name is Pinenut Woodbanger.

While the DM is helping my husband make a fighter (he wanted another barbarian, but this group already has one) I’m making a cleric… but not just any cleric, no. I’m making a cleric in the trickery domain, so jokingly I tell the DM and the wizard, “You’re all going to die.”

My husband makes a black Dragonborn fighter and I have a gray Tiefling trickery cleric. For the sake of story, the DM just says that we’ve been traveling together since about level 1 and that we’re all level 5 now. The wizard and barbarian have been together for just as long.

This means I have some choices, both in and out of character. While she does have Cure Wounds, rather than preparing Spare the Dying, she has Inflict Wounds. My reasoning being that the fighter sees me as capable (or else he wouldn’t respect me) so I have to be able to handle my own, meaning that I’ve dealt some damage in the time we’ve been together.

Anyway, we spent about 2 ½ hours making our characters and really only about 10 minutes actually playing.

I’ll update when I get more details so you can read our randomness!

Diablo 4 Open Beta

Pleased to say we were able to play the Open Beta of Diablo 4  & I must be honest, it was worse than last weekend. So many bugs/errors, ...
